A relatively quiet weekend in NT&DL’s league action this past weekend with a number of postponements and only eleven games across the three junior divisions and the u17 league.
The Premier Division saw just two games played, the first of which was a five goal thriller in Villa Park between Killavilla United and BT Harps, with the visitors running out winners on a scoreline of 2-3. Harps were ahead by the odd goal in three at the break following two goals from Martin Harty and a reply for the home side from Paul Kirwan. Kirwan scored his second early in the second half but a late Johnny Coleman penalty secured the three points for Harps. For the full match report click here.
In the second game in the top division, a single Shane Dunne strike was enough to see Borroway Rovers secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Portumna Town. The home side will be looking to build on this victory in their coming fixture against fellow strugglers Holycross FC and a win there will see them move further away from the relegation places. Portumna face a tricky prospect on Sunday when they travel to Templemore to face an in-form BT Harps side.
Division 1 continued on Sunday with Shinrone FC’s most likely title challengers both securing wins to keep things interesting at the top of the second tier.
Third place Rearcross FC visited Ballinree and merged with all three points on a 2-3 scoreline against Ballymackey FC. The Rearcross goals came from a James Deegan brace and an own goal.
Second placed Moneygall FC hosted Borrisokane FC on Sunday and continued their good form this season with a 3-1 win. The Moneygall goals on the day came from Josh Wynn and a double from Joe Callaghan while the Borrisokane goal was an OG. The result sees Moneygall move level with Shinrone United who they play this coming Sunday in a top of the table clash.
In the Saturday evening games in Division 2, Templetuohy FC ran out 4-1 winners at home to Arra Rovers while Silvermines FC secured their first three points of the season with a 2-1 win over Birdhill FC.
On Sunday Holycross FC B kept up their promotion chase a 0-3 win away to bottom of the table Moneygall FC B. In Nenagh, Lough Derg FC maintained their 100% record with a 1-4 victory over Nenagh Celtic B, the goals coming from Dave Cassidy, James Hanley, Emmet Lyons and Jason Comley, while Eddie Shore got the consolation goal for Celtic. Top of the table BT Harps B travelled to Clodagh Rangers B and came away with the win on a 1-2 scoreline. BT’s scorers on the day were David Fennell and Martin Dooley. Mark Quinlan got the sole reply for Clodagh.
The U17 League returned last Thursday evening with a comfortable 6-0 home win for Rearcross FC over Holycross FC. The Friday evening game between Borrisokane FC and Arra Rovers ended in a 2-1 victory for the Portroe side.
