Limerick Desmond League Review Week 18

FAI Umbro Oscar Traynor Trophy, Group C.

The Limerick Desmond League bowed out of the Oscar Traynor Trophy as they fell to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Limerick District in Jackman Park last Saturday night. Limerick District went into the break with a 1-0 lead before scoring a further five in the second half. Van Mambouana was on the mark for Limerick Desmond.

Weekly Observer Division 1.

Granagh United maintained their lead on top of Division One as they defeated AK United 4-0 in Kilcornan. While two goals from Brian Sheahan and Hessler O’Connor along with one from John J O’Connell gave Glantine a 5-2 win at home to Rathkeale B. Shannonside ensured that their unbeaten league form remained intact following a 3-1 win against Abbeyfeale United B.

Weekly Observer Division 2.

Adare United remain on top of the Division Two table following a 2-1 win against Ballingarry B at the Paddocks. Adare’s first came from an own goal with Chris Carey being the source of their second. Ballysteen picked up a convincing 5-1 win against Bally Rovers with goals from Ed Gallagher, Darragh Ranaghan and a hat-trick from John O’Shaughnessy giving them the points. Shountrade continued their fine run of form with a 3-1 home win against Glin Rovers B. Glin took the lead in the first half from the penalty spot before Shountrade scored three without reply including a brace from Tommy Stokes and one from Tim Frawley.

Weekly Observer Division 3.

Creeves Celtic recorded a good 5-2 win against Feenagh B for whom Donal Madigan and Dan Shelton were the scorers. Carrig Celtic B picked up 1-0 win away to Knockaderry to put themselves joint second with Creeves Celtic while Ferry Rangers remain undefeated at the top after they defeated Newcastle West B 5-2 in the Demesne with Jason Cummins getting both goals for the home side.
