FAI Umbro Junior Cup 5th Round (extra time & penalties if required).
Abbeyfeale United vs Kildrum Tigers FC
The first of our two big games sees Abbeyfeale United host Kildrum Tigers of Donegal on Saturday night in the FAI Umbro Junior Cup 5th round. Kildrum play in the Premier Division of the Donegal Junior League where they are joint top with three wins and two draws from their five games. Declan Curtis and James Melly are just two of their more consistent players who feature frequently on the score sheet also. They have had some great wins thus far in the FAI Umbro Junior Cup with a 2-1 win against Cavan Town, a 2-0 win against Clones Town and a great comeback from 2-0 down at half-time to defeat Erne Wanderers 4-2. There is no doubt that they are a great side and are are in this stage of the competition for a reason. The Fealesiders picked up yet another win last week as they scored six without reply against Carrig Celtic which is a true sign of just how deadly they can be. They have not lost a game since April and have picked up great results against everyone they have come across. Their home record has been fantastic this season with five wins and a draw from six games and they will try to make it count for this big clash. Both sides in this contest are excellent and are more than capable of taking this game but with Abbeyfeale not looking like stopping anytime soon I think that they will progress.
StoppageTime.ie Prediction: Abbeyfeale United.
Evergreen FC vs Carrig Celtic
Our second FAI Umbro Junior Cup game sees Evergreen FC face off against Carrig Celtic. Evergreen hail from Kilkenny where the sit joint-top of the Premier Division with five wins and a loss against Freebooters who they hold top position with. They have recorded some great results in their league campaign with a 6-1 victory away to third placed Stoneyford United and a 5-1 victory over Freebooters B. While they have yet to be challenged so far in the FAI Umbro Junior Cup with a 3-1 victory against Mullingar Town and a 5-1 win against Bridge Rovers. Carrig Celtic have been having a tough time of it as of late with two losses in their last two games as they fell to an 8-2 loss at the hands of Newcastle West Rovers and a 6-0 loss last week against Abbeyfeale United. They have shown how capable they are in the past with victories over Ballingarry and Newcastle West Rovers being the most noteworthy and so they will want to come out of their poor run of form by advancing to the next stage of the competition. With Evergreen seeming to be in great form, I see them making the most of their home advantage and progressing.
StoppageTime.ie Prediction: Evergreen FC.
