Vinny A God Send As Town Snatch Draw

Vinny Godfrey was the hero for Tipperary Town tonight after scoring a superb goal with fifteen minutes to go to complete his sides comeback against leaders St Michael’s at a packed Cooke Park

Saints got off to the perfect start when in the fifth minute Jimmy Carr raced down the left and his inch perfect cross found David Slattery who made no mistake from close range.

Saints found themselves two up and cruising only three minutes later when Slattery again found space and seen his delicious shot curl into the top corner.

Town would not lie down though and made their pressure count on 67 minutes when Brian Jones rose highest to nod the ball past the Saints keeper.

Then came the games moment of magic when Vinny Godfrey collected the ball some 30 yards out and his delicate and precise lob neat the keeper with consummate ease to send the away fans into delirium.

Saints probably had the better of the play but this Tipperary Town derby, the very first one in TSDL Premier Division history ended a Stalemate, a result that the visitors would have taken with both hands before the game.

A very entertaining Friday night in Cooke Park.
