An under strength Tipperary Town continued their fine form in the TSDL Premier Division as they beat Galbally in a match that has a whopping 11 goals.
Town had recently struggled to get a result here but ran amok in the first half grabbing a 3-0 lead in the process thanks to goals from Vinny Godfrey, Donough Leahy and Steven Quinn.
The second half started as the first did and Godfrey got his second of the game with a fine finish. Galbally then grabbed one when Ger Quinlan capitalised on a defensive mix up to get his side on the scoresheet. This however would not deter Town and Leahy grabbed his second and his sides fifth only minutes later.
The game was now end to end and Galbally grabbed their second when Quinn Perry slotted the ball past Paddy Finnan with twenty minutes remaining. Then almost immediately, just as before, Town went up the other end and Barry O’Dwyer went on a brilliant solo run and he neatly put the ball past the onrushing keeper.
United would not throw in the towel though and got a deserved goal when Perry used his strength to shrug off the defender and he finished brilliantly to grab his second of the game. Town were on edge after this and they conceded a penalty three minutes later and Darren Sheedy duly dispatched the spot kick to make the Town nerves ever so real. The United comeback was then halted when Brian Nugent rose the highest in the area to head into the top corner to score his sides seventh and to finish the game as a contest.
A deserved win for Town and a fantastic game for the neutral with some fantastic goals to boot. Steven Quinn was awarded the man of the Match award notching up four assists aswell as getting on the scoresheet.
A fantastic season so far for the Premier Division newcomers. 16 points from their opening 10 games, joint 4th with Peake Villa, something of which they couldn’t have dreamed of at the start of the campaign.
