This seasons Premier Division looks set to be the most exciting one in years with four teams looking to take Nenagh Celtics crown.
After the loss of Nenagh Afc last season and the loss of Streamstown Celtic this season the NT&DL is glad to welcome Roscrea Town (an amalgamation of Killavilla United & Roscrea United aswell as numerous players from Streamstown Celtic) to the league. The Roscrea side will play out of Villa Park for the coming season and the facilities are also a welcome boost.
Roscrea, Thurles, Cloughjordan and BT Harps all feel that this could be their season after all four clubs making big changes throughout the summer.
stoppagetime.ie predicts that Thurles Town might be Celtics biggest rivals this season and after finishing second last season they will look to go one further to bring the Premier Division out of Nenagh for the first time in 14 years.
The relegation battle could be equally as exciting as Borrisokane and Ballymackey come into the division to ruffle a few feathers.
1. Thurles Town
We feel with a couple of signings during the summer Thurles might very well end Nenaghs stranglehold on the division. A bold prediction and a very close battle is expected.
2. Nenagh Celtic
NT&DL’s top team as of late will not give up their title easily and will once again have an abundance of talent at their disposal, for any team to finish above them very few points can be dropped.
3. Roscrea Town
With apparently the pick of Roscrea now big things are expected from this outfit. Their main danger is of course the club being so new and players and management might very well need time to get things right. A quick start is needed by these and only time will tell if it’s possible.
4. Cloughjordan Fc
The always unpredictable Barry Cup Champions Cloughjordan always seem to drop early points, some of which they’d expect not to over the season. On form they are more than capable of beating any team and their only downfall could be consistency.
5. BT Harps
The resurgent BT Harps look to be getting back on top of things this summer but we feel a close title run might just be too soon for this outfit. With many top players returning they will be a team to avoid early on.
6. Lough Derg
A team that like to play nice football and also a team that improves bit by bit every season. With a lot of youth coming through Lough Derg will look to improve on last seasons solid finish.
7. Borrisokane Fc
Last seasons Division 1 champions will look to consolidate a position in this division and this is probably the best they can look for in what will definitely be a tough season. Known for upsets, they will hope to get a few to keep them up.
8. Sallypark Odhráns
A team that always manages the “escape” season after season will have it tough once again this season. A fantastic draw against eventual Champions Nenagh Celtic last season got them to safety so the talent is there but can it be utilised?
9. Ballymackey Fc
A big jump in class for the Balinree side, a side that have came through all the divisions in recent years. The Premier Division though does not take any prisoners so every game this season could be cup final like.
A highly exciting season in store and stoppagetime.ie will have the best of coverage for everyone.
Best of luck to one and all and we sincerely hope that teams in all divisions make our predictions look foolish.
