KIllavilla Utd returned to the top of the NT&DL Premier Division table after a comfortable 4-1 win against Portumna Town in Villa Park last night.

Villa found themselves in total control early on despite their opponents having the lion share of possession but a Joe Moloney goal on 9 minutes set the stall out, Shane Moloney broke away down the left hand side and his inch perfect pul back found a gracious Joe Moloney and he finished with aplomb. It would be 2-0 just ten minutes later when John Cordial burst out of defence after sustaineded Portumna pressure, Cordial found Paul Kirwan down the left and as he got to the end line his pass across the box found Denis Moloney and the veteran made no mistake cooly finishing the ball with his left foot.

Two would become three just after the half hour mark when the impressive Shane Moloney raced away down the right hand side this time, his cross found the evergreen Paul Kirwan who in turn headed the ball brilliantly past John O’Meara in the Portumna goal. The away side did pull a goal back before half time as a David Nee free kick wasn’t dealt with and Sean O’Meara was on hand to tuck the ball past Jason Ryan and into the back of the net.

The second half was a tame affair compared to the first and it was Villa who would cast the definitive blow as a Shane Moloney shot was saved by O’Meara but Kirwan then snuck in and finished the game off for his second of the night.

Villa now have five games to go and not an easy run in as they look to win their maidan NT&DL Premier Division….
