Killavilla Utd made it to the third round of the Tipperary Cup after a hard fought win over Nenagh Celtic at Villa Park.

I a game that had very little in the way of clear-cut chances Villa took the lead two minutes before half time when a Paul Kirwan flick on managed to fine Shane Moloney some 25 yards out, Moloney then unleashed an unstoppable shot that gave David Walsh no chance in the Celtic goal.

The second half continued as the first did and Celtic nearly equalised on the hour mark when a long free kick from Marky Walsh was fumbled onto the crossbar by Bryan O’Lone but the Villa stopper then smothered the ball to ease the danger.

Villa put the game beyond Celtic with five minutes remaining as a quick turn in the area seen Joe Moloney square the ball to Craig Phelan and his stuck the ball into the corner of the net to give Walsh no chance again.

Celtic managed a consolation in injury time as Mark Walsh converted a penalty, but it was to no avail.

Villa now play Ballymackey Fc or BT Harps in Round 3.
