A penalty deep into injury time from Cloughjordan’s Jack Farrell seen the North Tipperary & District League Division 1 title race blow wide open as the black and white stripes managed a 2-2 draw with Shinrone Utd as then second placed side Moneygall Fc put six past Borrisokane Fc this morning.

Both Moneygall and Shinrone now sit level on points at the top of the table now and it sets up a pulsating finale in the Community Centre in Shinrone In the next few weeks as the pair meet on the final day of the league season.

Shinrone found themselves a goal to the good mid-way through the first half against Cloughjordan thanks to a John Pion Fitzpatrick penalty that was dispatched into the roof of the net. Both sides went at it after this and but for some fine goalkeeping from Doughan in the Shinrone goal and some wayward finishing from Shinrone it may have been a different scoreline at the break.

Clough came out of for the second half the quickest and levelled affairs five minutes in when a beautiful ball over the top found Dean O’Meara and his volley rattled the back of the net, a fine finish from a fine player. Shinrone re-took the lead just seven minutes later however as Fitzpatrick grabbed his second of the game from close range.

Chances came and went in the final thirty minutes and the visitors got their reward deep into injury time when they were awarded a penalty, Jack Farrell stepped up and tucked the ball away to equalise for his side and in turn doing Moneygall a gigantic favour.

Moneygall travelled to Borrisokane this morning and three goals either side of half time seen them comfortably set up a final day showdown against Shinrone. A brace from top scorer Joe Callaghan and a further one from Niall O’Lone had them well on their way at the break and further goals from Josh Wynne, Gary Gleeson and another from O’Lone were enough to see out the win.

Elsewhere in Division 1 Ballymackey Fc and Sallypark Odhráns seen out a 3-3 draw in a tremendous Toomevara derby. Tony Delaney, Aidan White and Paddy Tuohy were al on target for Ballymackey while a brace from Padraig Ryan and another from Patrick O’Connell were enough to seal a point for the visitors.
