Borroway Rovers gained sweet revenge on Killavilla Utd just weeks after their 7-1 drubbing at Villa Park. Rovers came out on top of this Munster Junior Cup tie by the odd goal in seven.
Villa Manager David Nash opted to make several changes for this one and perhaps it was too much for his side as they found themselves two goals to nil down at half time thanks to goals from Calum O’Connor and Jake Moore.
Villa puller one back ten minutes into the second half as Paul Kirwan got on the scoresheet but Jake Moore restored his sides two goal lead five minutes later. Villa showed great spirit as Kirwan grabbed his second of the game and twenty-second of the season. The host thought they had forced the game into extra time with two minutes remaining as Craig Phelan was on hand to equalize but O’Connor broke their hearts in the dying moments when he scored the winner.
Rovers now host Portumna in the third round.
