Preview…… Ricky Fogarty Cup Final

Ballinree is the fitting setting for this season’s NT&DL Ricky Fogarty Cup Final as Borrisokane Fc take on the mighty Nenagh Celtic this coming Saturday evening.

Borrisokane cap off a fine return season to the top flight and have proven tricky to beat on numerous occasions this term. They do however play a team that have two cup finals remaining and have also returned to form in the past few weeks.

Borrisokane have not played as much as they would have liked to in recent weeks but they won’t let this deter them, Shane Stapleton had a wonderful start to the season scoring ten league goals but his goals seemed to have dried up in the second half of the season. Gordon Harding will spearhead the Borrisokane defense and he has had yet another wonderful season as has Gerard Comerford and Keith Kelly, Danny Maguire will expect to have a busy day between the sticks and with players like Jimmy Hynes and Marky Walsh up against him that will no doubt be the case.

Celtic have been buoyed in recent weeks with the return of some high profile players. They will however have to play without Micheal Hynes, Stephen Flynn and Sean Healy for the remainder of the season. Celtics management team of Robbie Ryan and Kevin Flannery won;t take their opponents lightly here but will be confident. Marky Walsh’s reurn to the starting XI has been a welcome boost (he has amassed 14 goals this season), as has the return of Benny Sheehan. Brian Mitchell has continuously impressed this season on the right, Damien Corcoran will be in the goal where he has been in top form in recent weeks.

Stoppagetime.ie feel that Celtic will have too much for Borrisokane in this one and it could very well be a one sided affair. This cup has sprung many a shock over the years though and one would not be surprised if their was another on on offer here. Cetic’s strength all over the pitch will prove difficult to combat and their pace on the break will be especially worrying for the Borrisokane FC Management.

Stoppagetime.ie Prediction: Borrisokane Fc 1-4 Nenagh Celtic
