Nenagh Celtic host TSDL Premier Division outfit Peake Villa in the third round of the FAI Junior Cup.
Villa have already taken a NT&DL Premier Division scalp in the form of Thurles Town earlier this season so they will prove to be no pushover here also.
Celtic have been somewhat inconsistent so far this season but are still only one point behind leaders Roscrea Town in the league and will fancy their chances to win back to back league titles. Goals have been plentiful for them as they have netted a massive 50 goals in just 13 games, winning 9 and losing just 4 games. The 4 losses however will be still strong be in their minds and they will look to keep their season alive on as many fronts as possible.
Sean Healy has top scored for his side with 9 goals in all competitions, Mark Walsh just one behind with 8 goals. Talisman Jimmy Hynes has regained his form somewhat and will hope to continue that here. Damien Corcoran will be between the sticks and the ever improving keeper will have NT&DL Premier Division Player Of The Year Paul Walsh in front of him. The talent doesn’t end there as Jamie Kelly, Danny Ryan and Stephen Flynn have been playing very well while the likes of Mikey Hynes and Chris Ryan will add strength and experience.
Villa sit in third place in the South Tipp equivalent and will be no strangers to this type of game coming up against Both Clonmel Town & Celtic aswell as St Michael’s year in year out. Villa have just 2 losses in 9 games this season amassing 37 goals. Youngster Matthew McKevitt has scored a whopping 14 goals in that time while the very experienced and talented playmaker Pippy Carroll has scored on 9 occasions. James O’Sullivan and Jodie Brolins side have a wealth of talent in their side despite their relative young age. Maris Baltins and Gary Lyons have been particularly impressive while Sean Wade and Alan Leahy marshall the Villa defence. Mikey Wade and Dale Loughnane will also be looking to make a mark as Villa step up their progress and try reach the heights of their 09/10 title winning season.
A tough but exciting affair in prospect here and it is very hard to call a winner here. Villas youth will be tested to the highest here against a very experienced side managed by Robbie Ryan. The tight pitch at the TEC will also be a factor and for this reason we go for a Celtic win by the odd goal in three.
Stoppagetime.ie is looking forward to watching both teams in action here as both sides look to play quick attacking football.
Stoppagetime.ie Prediction: Nenagh Celtic 2-1 Peake Villa Fc
