Ballymackey Fc 1

Portumna Town 3

Portumna Town advance to next Round of Munster Junior Cup with a 3-1 win over Ballymackey which saw the Portumna captain Ciaran Haugh hold the leagues current top scorer Willie Darcy scoreless with every ball between these two keenly contested.

Portumna took the game to Ballymackey and had a couple of chances that should have resulted in goals but the Ballinree side held firm. The Ballymackey defence held up until the 32nd minute when a searching ball forward from Ronnie Forde was deflected into the Ballymackey net for an O.G. This did not faze Ballymackey as they bounced back two minutes later when awarded a free kick outside the box and with Gary Kevin slotting the ball forward for Terry Delaney to glance it with his head passed Niall Royston in the Portumna goal for the equaliser.

Second half saw the two teams pressing again with good football and movement around the pitch. On 76 mins Kevin Brummell came off injured to be replaced by Gary Lynch who on the 85th minute delivered a free kick into the box to find Garry Curran who in turn headed the ball over the keeper and into the Ballymackey net. Two minutes later Ramy O’Hara carried the ball close to the end line and he chipped it across the six yard box for Sean Lynch to head it home. Ballymackey had  ood strong periods in the game but Portumna overall had the better of the match and finished strongly.
