Portumna moved joint top of the NT&DL Division One after ball thing back from a goal down against Ardcroney Fc.
Ardcroney went ahead on 15 minutes when Andy Loughnane found himself through on goal and he finished very neatly for the away side.
Portumna piled on the pressure throughout and found it very difficult to breach an Ardcroney defence marshalled by David Slattery. Persistence did pay off however and in heartbreaking fashion for Ardcroney as the hosts would score twice in the last five minutes.
The equaliser came after brilliant play from Rory Finnegan down the right seen him drill the ball across the six yard box and their was Ciaran Haugh on hand to score with a simple tap in. Portumna would not stop there as just three minutes later David Fogarty found himself in space twenty yards from goal and he managed to beat two defenders in the box before he drove the all home while under pressure in what could be the most important goal of the Portumna season so far.
A tight and tough game played by both sides and another inkling that Ardcroney are ever improving as the weeks go on.
