NT&DL Division 1 Shield Final Preview

Borroway Rovers Vs Nenagh Celtic B

Borroway Rovers face Nenagh Celtic B In this final hoping to put to bed the memories of their last two. Rovers went down on penalties to Ballymackey Fc In this final last season and only three seasons ago they lost 5-0 to Roscrea United in the Barry Cup Final. Celtic themselves are looking to take part in a rare club double as their A team also play in the Premier Division Shield Final.

Rovers boss Paul Gould has twenty two players to choose from and has admitted that although it’s a relatively new squad they are probably the best in recent seasons. Shane Ryan will start in goal and the youngster has been impressive this far. Mark Shannon and Davie McGuire will most likely be at centre half and have a knack of not only keeping goals out but scoring them also. Captain Keith Moore has been in the goals as of late and he will hope to continue that form as he looks to lift this coveted title. Seamus Woodlock will of course be the engine in the middle and his tough tackling will be very important to combat a hugely experienced Celtic midfield. Players like Al O’Brien, Pa Lawler, Jake Morris and Colin Loughnane will be dangerous throughout and Rovers will undoubtedly feel that they can win this.

Celtic have vast experience in their squad and none with more than Club legend Stevie Ryan who will play sweeper in this final and continue to prove to be a hard man to pass. Darren  McGrath will start in centre midfield and his form this season has been very important along with his partnership with Lee Mitchell. Mark Carey and David Walsh will be given the job to score the goals whereas Jake Byrne will be between the sticks. Other important players will of course be Captain Liam O’Meara, Mikey Duffy, Eddie Shoer and Tadhg McCarthy who are all capable of big things here.

Stoppagetime.ie feels that Rovers tenacity might win over as their never say die attitude has been immense since the start of the season. Celtic however are very hard to beat and will prove the same here again, a very tight final in store.
