Killavilla Utd all but ended Nenagh Celtic’s title hopes in a very cold night in Villa Park tonight. A solitary Brian Moloney strike fifteen minutes into the first half was enough to see off the under-strength Celtic.
The only goal of the game came as excellent work from Paul Lake down the left seen the winger play a one two with John Pion Fitzpatrick, Lake then squared the ball for Moloney who confidently placed his shot into the roof of the net past a helpless Damien Corcoran.
Villa might have added to their goal lead before half time as Corcoran denied both Moloney and Owen Tynan but the save of the half went to Villa’s Jason Ryan, the netminder touched the ball over the bar from Liam Murphy as it seemed destined for the top corner.
The second half failed to impress as Villa managed the game and seemed happy with their one goal lead, a lead that they would hold onto and see themselves edge closer to the top three.
