Villa Set Up Thurles Derby After Extra Time Win Against Celtic

Munster Junior Cup 4th Round

Peake Villa 2-1 Nenagh Celtic AET

Peake Villa set up a Munster Junior Cup 5th Round tie against local rivals Thurles Town after a hard-fought extra time win over Nenagh Celtic.

Celtic thought they had taken the lead early in the first half as Jimmy Hynes fought the ball away from Willie Tierney and he tucked the ball home from the tightest of angles only to see the goal ruled out by the linesman who adjudged the ball to have gone wide.

Celtic did take the lead early in the second half however, when Danny Ryan beat Willie Tierney at the second attempt. Villa would not give up however and found themselves on level terms as Pippy Carroll headed home from a Mikey Wade free-kick.

As the game looked to be headed for the elusive penalties it would be Celtic hearts that would be broken as a corner into the area seen the ball bobble to Aidan McCormack and the centre half made no mistake driving it into the top corner.
