Roscrea Town returned to the summit of the North Tipperary & District League in devastating fashion beating Borrisokane Fc by seven goals to one.
Roscrea got off to a flyer when goals from Brian Franks and John Pio Fitzpatrick sent them two goals ahead in the first fifteen minutes. They didn’t stop there however as a brace from Captain Shane Moloney and a first goal of the season from Rody Ryan ended the game as a contest before Keith Kelly pulled one back for Borrisokane.
The second half was a much tighter affair but Borrisokane still failed to match their counterparts as Moloney went on to complete his hattrick and Fitzpatrick finished the rout for the Roscrea side.
Roscrea Manager Brian Brooks spoke to us after the match and heaped praise on the whole team as he felt “they allworked and pressed hard for the 90 minutes” and he singled out Eoin Moloney for his contant threat from the left and also hattrick hero Shane Moloney, a player he deemed “very unselfish” despite his three goals.
Roscrea are now a point ahead of Nenagh Celtic having played a game more but this result has shown that they are more than capable of going for the title this season.
