Penalty Shootout Joy For Village As They Claim Historic Double

Village Fc claimed a historic double after a thrilling penalty shootout win over a luckless Templetuohy Fc at the Greyhound Stadium in Thurles.

Templetuohy grabbed a deserved lead five minutes before the break as Oisín Jordan was fouled in the area by Michael Cordial, the striker dusted himself off and slotted the penalty past Alan Conlon to send his side into half time with a one goal lead.

Village equalised eary in the second half when substitute Terrernce Bartlett curled a fantastic effort past Liam Ryan and into the top corner. 

It was all action in the last five minutes when a speculative effort from Tom Ryan flew into the top corner from twenty five yards but Derek McLoughlin equalised two minutes later from close range to send the game into extra time.

The coring didn’t stop there however as Templetuohy went ahead for the third time when Oisín Jordan scored his second penalty of the day just moments after Village’s McLoughlin had a goal ruled out for offside. Village managed to get an equaliser two minutes into the second half as they got a penalty of their own when Gary Culbert was fouled in the area, Ray Cordial stepped up and scored, sending the game into a penalty shootout in the process.

Village came out on top in the shootout as Ray Cordial, Michael Cordial, Conor Meehan and Nathan Fogarty all scored whilst Pj O’Brien dispatched Templetuohys only converted penalty.
