Munster Junior Cup 1st Round:
Roscrea Town A advanced to the second round of the Munster Junior Cup as goals from John Pio Fitzpatrick (2) and Shane Moloney were enough to see off a gritty Roscrea Town B side despite goals from Ryan O’Gorman and Micky Ryan.
Rearcross FC went crashing out of the competition courtesy of Division one rivals Portumna Town. Portumna’s in form striker Sean O’Meara netted again along with Ronan O’Meara and Rory Finnegan, Greg Kennedy’s goal for the hosts proved to be just a consolation.
Holycross Fc advanced to round two after beating Borrisokane Fc In a seven goal thriller. Goals from Aaron Delaney (2), Kevin Callanan and Dan Corbett were enough to see off the Premier Division side. Shane Stapleton continued his fine form scoring his 10th of the season while Andy Nevin and Keith Kelly also found themselves on the scoresheet.
Eoghan Vaughan (4) got off the mark for Thurles Town today scoring four goals in Town’s 7-0 win against Ballymackey Fc. Captain Barry Ryan added two more and Liam Hickey rounded off the scoring in this impressive victory.
BT Harps gained revenge on Nenagh Celtic in this tie running out 3-2 winners against the Premier Division champions. Having lost 6-0 to Celtic one would be forgiven if their heads were down but a brace from Johnny Coleman was cancelled out by Danny Ryan and Jamie Kelly only for Eoin Dorney to get the winner for Harps at the death.
9 man Moneygall Fc battled to a 2-1 victory against fellow strugglers Ardcroney Fc. Goals either side of half time from Gearóid Larkin were enough to see his side move out of the relegation zone whilst Andy Loughnane’s consolation was not enough.
Borroway Rovers moved to within one point of leaders Portumna Town after producing an exhibition in scoring against bottom of the table Arra Rovers. Goals from David McGuire (2), Gary Dunne (2), Keith Moore, Benny Connolly and Vinny Loughnane sealed the tie.
Cloughjordan Fc B had too much for Borrisokane Fc B as they ran out winners by the odd goal in five. Goals from Martin Grace, Andrew Brennan and Anthony Whelan give them the win despite an own goal and a Kevin Crowe goal for the away side.
Ballymackey Fc went top of Division 2 after beating a plucky Clodiagh Rangers B side by 4 goals to 2. Mark McCarthy scored a brace and further goals from Gary McCarthy and Captain Timmy Fleming were too much for Rangers who did their part with goals from James Coffey and Ger Fogarty.
Title favourites Gurtagarry Fc kept their unbeaten streak intact as goals from Paul Ryan (3) and Captain Kieran Brislane seen of the challenge from Rearcross FC B. Pj McLoughlin scored a consolation for the away side.
BT Harps B’s title challenge were dealt a major blow after drawing with Templetuohy Fc. Oisín Jordan scored for Templetuohy and a Chud Fennell penalty seen Harps get a well deserved point.
