Munster Junior Cup
Roscrea Town hosted BT Harps on Saturday night and were on the receiving end of a thrashing. Harps ran out 5-1 winners thanks to goals from Tommy Brophy (2), Cathal Scully, Johnny Coleman and Aidan Fogarty while Roscrea’s sole goal was a screamer from Brian Franks.
Cloughjordan progressed against Division 1 side Clodiagh Rangers but needed extra time to do so. The game was two goals apiece on 90 minutes but Clough ran out 5-2 winners in the end. Paul Lake (2), Ger O’Brien (2) and Kevin Kennedy were on target for the home side while a Paul Ryan brace for Rangers wasn’t enough.
Holycross travelled to Portumna and came away with a win thanks to goals from Jojo O’Meara, Kevin Callanan and Aaron Delaney. David Fogarty scored for the hosts but they bowed out on a 3-1 scoreline.
Ballymackey Fc hosted Borrisokane Fc In this relegation battle and it was the away side that ran out comfortable winners in a 4-1 scoreline. A brace apiece for Andrew Nevin and Matty Power prove to be enough despite Luke Kennedy scoring for the hosts.
Borroway Rovers moved three points clear at the after beating rivals Rearcross 4-0. Goals from Gary Dunne (2), Keith Moore and Seamus Woodlock got the goals to put their side top.
Nenagh Celtic B put six past relegation candidates Ardcroney Fc to keep up the pace for promotion. Danny White (2), Alan Kelly, Mark Carey, Antonio Provotorov and Stevie Ryan were on target while William Fogarty and Jamie Heffernan got what proved to be consolation goals for Ardcroney.
Roscrea Town B moved clear of the relegation dangers after running out 6-2 winners against bottom of the table Arra Rovers Fc. Joe Callaghan (3), Stephen Murphy (2) and Paul Brussels were on target for the home side while Cathal O’Brien and Dermot O’Halloran scored for Rovers.
Gurtagarry travelled to Drombane to play bottom of the table Clodiagh Rangers and ran out 12-1 winners to stay top of the table. Hattricks for Paul Ryan and Steven Cummins made life easy for the leaders and Calvin O’Rourke (2), Ronan Kinane, Darren Delaney, Mikey Ryan Pa and Jake Ryan completed the route.
Templetuohy Fc’s slim hopes of promotion were all but ended as they were beaten comprehensively by third in the table Ballymackey Fc. Timmy Fleming (2), Rory Mounsey, Denis O’Connor and Gary McCarthy were on target for Ballymackey.
Borrisokane hosted Ballywilliam in a mid table clash and it was the away side that won by a single goal thanks to Colm O’Brien.
BT Harps continued their push for the title but we’re made work hard for it against a Rearcross B side that have little to play for. Darren Russell bagged a brace to help his side stay second in the table.
