Double Joy For Holycross As They Claim Barry Cup

Holycross Fc made it a double for the season after a penalty shootout win over rivals Clodiagh Rangers on Fiday last.

The Division One champions found themselves a goal behind early in the second half when Paul Shanahan’s exquisite volley left Robert Quinlan with little chance in the Holycross goal.

The lead lasted until the final ten minutes when Arron Delaney found the back of the net with a powerful header to send the game into extra time.

Holycross thought they had won it in extra time but John King seen his effort agonisingly rebound off the cross bar. Indeed the Glenbane side would eventually win it on penalties with a 5-4 scoreline, Robert Quinlan superbly saving Jack Smyth’s effort to seal it.
